Is Christ really in Christmas? Really?

Sermon: The Christian and Christmas (Comments by Spurgeon, Pink, Knox)

Whether to celebrate Christmas or not is a decision that our family fought through this year. I did some research about what some godly men of today have said. I found balanced arguments on both sides of the issue. After Christmas, I listened to a sermon on sermon audio where godly men of the past were cited. Such men including Spurgeon, Pink, and Knox say don't touch it with a ten foot pole. Very convincing arguments. It is about an hour and a half long, so you may need to listen to it in installments. I would ask that you at least hear out these men to see what they have to say and then ask yourself what Scripture teaches and as just who is it exactly we are supposed to follow. In the very least, this will be very thought-provoking. Listen to it. Pray about it. Who is your allegiance to? God or the world? Click the title of the post to be re-directed to the sermon.

Roy Hargrave-Series on the Five Points of Calvinism

The brother who you have seen me Open Air Preaching with (Frank R), gave me an MP3 CD a while back by a man I had never heard of, Roy Hargrave, on the Five Points of Calvinism. To date, I have listened to about eleven of the messages in the series and I think there are two left. It has been very insightful. Pastor Hargrave evidently preaches this series or one like it to his congregation almost annually. Not only does Hargrave do a thorough outline and definition of each of the points in TULIP, he presents compelling counter arguments exposing the Arminian position for what it is. The files on the MP3 I have are purely audio. The videos on the other end of this link (http://www.graceworx.com/index.php?option=com_seyret&Itemid=101&task=videodirectlink&catid=44 ) look to be the same or at least similar to the audio. I have been blessed by this to this point and I hope you will be too. You should be able to click the title of the post to link to the sermons as well.

Defining and Defending Authentic Christianity

"For the Christian, defending the faith isn't an option. It's a solemn responsibility."

"It should be obvious if you think about it. Claiming to be a Christian doesn't make you a true follower of Christ anymore than calling yourself a vegetarian makes you one regardless of what you believe or do. In order to be a Christian, you must submit yourself completely to Christ and believe the Bible and its teachings."

- Eric Holmberg

Jehovah's Witness Doctrine Radically Opposes Biblical Doctrine

This is an excellent video explaining how JW doctrine radically opposes Bible doctrine. My source of truth is the Bible, God's word - Not a society created by mere men. I would recommend that you pause the video periodically to read the pages as the text is long and small. The hope here is that Christians can better defend their faith by these videos.

This video is called, "Corrections For Jehovah's Witnesses (Part 1)." Click here to get the video yourself.

The Jehovah's Witnesses Beliefs About Jesus

This is a link for a great video that shows how JW doctrine differs drastically in parts from what the Bible actually teaches. Unfortunately, the You Tube user will not permit people to embed his videos, so we have to use his page to see them, which is fine. The hope here is that Christians will better be able to defend their faith against false teachings. To hetgow: I appreciate your work. Thank you.

Jehovah's Witnesses Discourage Independent Thinking

This video is called, "Jehovah's Witnesses and Independent Thinking." I thought this was astonishing. How can you learn whether or not your faith is valid if you are not allowed to educate yourself about your faith? This might just be yet another sign of the times, as described in 2 Thessalonians 2, where people fall away and pursue false teachings. If you are saved, you have nothing to fear beacuse God will not let you fall away. If you are not, use your BIBLE to examine yourself (2 Corinthians 13:5). The hope here is that JWs would examine themselves and that Christians would learn to defend their faith.

Amazing Grace Update

Hi everyone.

You may have remembered us posting about "Amazing Grace: The History and Theology of Calvinism," the DVD from the Apologetics Group. We got it in the mail a short while ago and watched the first six or so chapters Sunday evening. This video is fantastic! It explains so well not only that the Reformed road is in fact the narrow road and the difficult way that leads to life (Matthew 7:13-14), but is does an impeccable job explaining WHY it is the correct way. If anyone thinks you are in a cult because you are "Reformed," get this DVD, and show them the "Church History" section that will explain where the modern Gospel came from and how hundreds and thousands of years of church history are not in support of the modern Gospel, but rather, in support of the Reformed way of thinking.

Incidentally, we found out after we got the DVD, that our Pastor, Dr. Thomas Ascol, is one of the contributors to the DVD. So, if you live in or near Lee County, Florida and you are looking for a doctrinally sound true church, check out Grace Baptist Church of Cape Coral, Florida. If you disagree with my stance, please find the DVD online yourself and check it out. Pay particular attention to the list of names in the Church History section. If you are going to disagree with this way of thinking, you will have to disagree with all those names in that list and several hundred years of church history. Are you prepared to argue your case about that with God? Please come into it with an open mind. It is our prayer that God will "reform" the hearts that need "reforming" and save them that believe. I would like to hear feedback from anyone who gets this DVD and sees it. Thanks all.

You can find the video at: http://www.theapologeticsgroup.com/cms/component/page,shop.product_details/flypage,shop.flypage/product_id,67/category_id,1/manufacturer_id,0/option,com_virtuemart/Itemid,1/ or by clicking on the title of this blog.

The Top 10 Atheist Strawmen

This video is called, "The Top 10 Atheist Strawmen." It refutes most arguments that atheists will give you about why they don't believe in God. Watch this video and be more equipped to give a response when you talk to an atheist. You can also watch the video at http://youtube.com/watch?v=7NgCJeSMHcw .

Response to the YouTube video "10 Questions That Every Intelligent Christian Must Answer."

Possibly a year ago, I'm not sure, I watched a video on YouTube called: "10 Questions That Every Intelligent Christian Must Answer." At the time I had no answers to the questions it raised and it made me even question my faith. I didn't turn away from Christianity, but it made me question. Over my lifetime I've had many people explain to me their reasons for believing God doesn't exist or that Christianity was wrong, and at the time they seemed to have good arguments. I would just believe in "faith" that was God was true. There had to be a beter reason than faith for everything.

In the past when I went to church, I would ask questions like it poses such as "Why does God not heal amputees," and other questions like that. I wondered why so many people claimed to be healed and never saw any proof of it myself or anywhere for that matter. I wondered why God could would allow so many seemingly innocent people in the Bible to be killed for what seemed like petty sins. Also, how can a loving God allow suffering and evil to go unpunished in this world? I wondered so many things but no one could ever give me a good, rational answer. The only answers I was given was that we had to have faith or that we can't understand the mind of God, or it's just a product of the fall, and things like that.

When those kinds of questions were brought to me by people opposing Christianity, I had nothing to say in response but the same answers I had heard such as "just have faith." This was hard to convince unbelievers of this, let alone me as a supposed Christian at the time. How come time and time again no one had answers to my questions? Now, since I became a true Christian, I believe, back in January of this year, the Bible has started to make sense for once in my life. I thought I understood the Bible and the basic doctrines of the faith. I had it all wrong. Almost all that I had been taught was wrong.

For once I was getting answers that made sense. It was recently brought to my attention the concern of this video and that people might not believe in God if they watched it. I watched this video again today and to me the questions were absolutely absurd and were so easily refutable. It caused me no concern whatsoever because I knew what the Bible had to say about the questions posed. Plus, I trust in the sovereignty of God. If God is really going to save someone, then watching a video like that won't stop them from becoming a Christian. I have no fears that anything I will ever watch or hear in my life will convince me that the Bible isn't true or God doesn't exist. I don't care what ridiculous arguments the opposition brings up. They're exactly that....ridiculous! The God of the Bible is true and once you become saved, there should be no doubt about that. God has revealed Himself to us in Scripture and the Bible has withstood the test of time and has proven to be true. When God takes out that heart of stone and gives you a heart of flesh, you know it and the power of God is made real to you. It's not just "faith" anymore, but reality.

First, watch the video that supposedly proves that God is just imaginary and not real and supposedly proves to us that if you believe in God you are delusional. The arguments are pathetic. Then, watch a young man, younger than we are, answer all the questions with ease. It's sad that a guy so young can answer these and lots of pastors can't even do that. Hopefully you can easily point out the flaws in their "straw man" arguments and will be more equipped when people ask you the same questions. God bless!
